Our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of individuals, schools, organizations, corporations and individual donors who provided wonderful holiday gifts and much-needed personal care items to nearly 500 women and children.
In these economic times, it has become more difficult for families living on the edge of poverty to make ends meet, much less have money for holiday gifts. For some, even the basics have become luxury items. Below are just a few of the donors who made the holidays brighter for so many...

Heartwarming Gifts with a Personal Touch
For the past several years, the staff, employees and customers of Patricia’s Fabric House in East Rochester have hosted a collection of personal care items for the women taking part in the YWCA's Housing programs. This year, the group generously donated over 225 hand-sewn pillowcases full of these critically-needed items for a special holiday gift. View news story

Reason to Celebrate
In December, the women and children taking part in the YWCA's Housing Programs gathered together for a special holiday celebration. Our thanks to the Rivers Edge Party House for hosting the event, which included a catered meal. Volunteers from Paychex were also on hand to distribute donated toys and gifts and lead craft activities.
Gifts To Warm Those Cold Winter Nights
Each year, Summit Federal Credit Union donates hundreds of PJs, robes, and slippers to local shelters for women and children in need as part of the PJ Round Up. Our thanks for their continued support. Our thanks as well to The Handiwork Ministry and many others who donated knit blankets, mittens, and hats for those we serve.

A Gift for Every Child
Our thanks to Senator Jim Alesi, the Well-U Program at UR, The Pirate Toy Fund, and many others who donated toys and games for the children we serve. Our thanks as well to Citizens Bank, who generously donated stockings full of toys, gifts, and personal care items for the children we serve to help deck the halls!

Shoeboxes and Blue Jeans
Our thanks to the Xerox Women's Alliance who donated over one hundred gift-wrapped shoeboxes filled with personal care items and good cheer. In all, over 500 shoeboxes were donated in 2011, a new agency record!
Thanks as well to our friends at Nixon Peabody for also hosting a collection of personal care items, as well as raising over $300 from their Jeans Day in December.

Holiday Meals and Toys Delivered Door to Door
In Dcember, members of the Brighton Rotary sorted and distributed over 100 holiday food baskets for the women of the YWCA. Rotary volunteers also donated over 70 carefully assembled gift bags full of toys and needed items like toothbrushes for the children who call the YWCA home.

SBC Donates over 1,000 Thanksgiving Baskets
Every year the generous members of the Small Business Council host SBC Cares, collecting donations for our community’s most vulnerable families. This year the group distributed a record number of food baskets to several agencies, including the YWCA, as well as donating an additional $1,500 in gift cards to purchase additional groceries.
