Equality for All

The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  We believe the key to real and lasting change is to engage area residents in conversations about the issues, allowing us to open hearts and minds to new perspectives and the richness of diversity.

Our goal is to create greater awareness of racism and to give community members ideas, information, and encouragement to change attitudes and behaviors one person and one encounter at a time. What diminishes one of us, diminishes all of us.

Our current racial justice initiatives include:

Stand Against Racism – Each year, we hold an annual community-wide event to build awareness about racism.  We reach out to businesses, schools, houses of worship, organizations, and government agencies to join the effort.  For more information on this event, click here.

“Opening Doors” Video and Facilitated Workshops – These programs are more than training courses, they are an exploration of how we act, what we believe, and how we think.  For more information, click here.
